Snack ATTACK
I remember my mum once admitted to me that when she had young children she used to sneak out of view and go into the toilet to eat chocolate in secret. I didn’t understand at the time what she meant. Why didn’t she just wait until the kids were in bed?
Now I get it.

A Step In My Shoes
The Naughty Spot
Hola my name is Marylou Alvarez, I’m a mom, who some would say is a lil different. My first daughter was born when I was 16, it began a new chapter in my life. I went on to have 5 more girls after her, which brings me to my youngest, Nicky as we call her, she has ADHD. Life with Nicky will be a big part of this blog, our ups and downs of her daily struggles and great progress! I would like to bring you along for the ride, and a step in my shoes!

A/W 12 Trends on the High Street: Print
With the A/W12 trends such as Baroque, Eastern Opulence and Geometric Florals, this coming season is a great opportunity to fill your wardrobe with PRINT, which if your wardrobe is anything like mine, is something that is severely lacking. With this (and the pursestrings) in mind I have put together a collection of some of the very best printed pieces that the High Street has to offer…

The Future’s Bright…The Future’s Ginger!
As the mother of a ginger haired little boy I have been on the recieving end of quite a few jokes but also some insults too. So I’ve decided to fight back – lets put an end to this ginger prejudice!

My Darlings and Me
Picnics and Paddling In The Park
The Darlings aren’t at school yet, but the school holidays still mean that there is no playgroup for Oliver and no toddler group for the next six weeks. So what shall we do on a Monday morning now? Well a few of the mums who usually go to toddler group {one of whom is my lovely sister with my gorgeous nieces!} decided to meet up in the park and have a picnic this week.

Top tweet places for a Twitter user on a mission
I started using Twitter in earnest exactly a year ago today. Do I say Happy Tweetiversary? Probably as there seem to be lots of rather strange words in the English language involving the wee bird…Tweeps, Tweeple, Tweet-Up, Dweeting (drunken tweeting), the list goes on…
Mashable have even given us a rather a fab Guide to Twitterspeak to help those of us that aren’t really up to Tweed… *groan*

Try pond dipping during the summer holidays
‘I think we’ve got some interesting creatures in here,’ Ladybird told me on our pond dipping trip after we’d swept the fishing net slowly back and forth, just like we’d been shown, and drawn it up slowly from the murky pond.
I could see some pond weed stuck fast to the bottom, but I’m not convinced we’ve snared much else. We took the dripping net back to our table and carefully emptied the weed into a tray. Within seconds it was clear that Ladybird was right, the net wasn’t devoid of life at all, the clear water clouded with…

Last Half Term of Year 6
What the hell is the point of the last half term in Year 6?
If you are the parent of a child just finishing primary school or you have older kids and have already been there, seriously – what’s the point of that last half term?
My Son has done practically nothing at school for the last few weeks. The whole aim of primary school was focussed on the SATs they took in May, which in my opinion are for the benefit of the school rather than the children.

Mastering the Walk?
So, this week I’ve started the process of mastering the walk. As both of them have their separate issues whilst walking, I’ve decided it’s best to practice with them individually before I try them together. This means that they will only each get walked every other day, but I’m looking for long-term results so it’s better than not trying at all.

Meeting Olympic Athletes and the London 2012 Opening Ceremony
Yesterday, which was the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, I was in London for my nanny’s 80th birthday and I went for a little walk and met these athletes from the Czech Republic team. They let me have my picture taken with them near the big London bus which was doing press-ups outside!

F.A.B at Forty
Inappropriate Bear Behaviour
Another glorious summer day, so we decided to go to the zoo. It was my first attempt to go there without another “responsible” adult. Daddy was working, but I decided to bite the bullet and try going it alone.
I packed us a picnic, took loads of nappies, sun cream and changes of clothes and off we went. My only faux pas, was not taking extra batteries for my camera and of course it ran out of steam before we were finished!

Olympics – Let the Games begin
The Booed…
Anyone else a bit confused about the Olympic Games starting a few days before the opening ceremony? Clearly not half as confused as the North Korean women’s football team. If you haven’t been watching the coverage, their faces were shown on a screen next to the South Korean flag, just before kick-off.

MS Mummy of Two
Reality Crash
Reality Crash
Today it hit me. I know I have blogged before about my MS symptoms coming back into play. My steroids gave me the relief I was so desperate for. The first course I had lasted about 8 weeks, this time I would say about 6, therefore my relief has been short lived.

Kiss My Bottom It’s Sore
To all of you that read my previous post olympic torch 1 – umbrellas 0. You will understand how amusing my night was last night….
I was stuck in a caravan in an almighty thunderstorm with my mother. Pure comedy gold. As soon as the rumbling started she turned all the lights on, and the first flash of lightening induced a flurry of activity as she rushed around the room franticly closing the curtains!

Dear Delia Smith…
Dear Delia,
I don’t know how to say this, but me and you? Its just not working out is it?
We used to be so great together. Back in the day when I first started cooking we were inseparable. I was an ex-veggie, couldn’t even cook a sausage. You came into my life in the form of many cookery books, given to me by my dad, over-whelmed with happiness as he was that I was finally ready to move on from cheese filled Findus Crispy Pancakes and for the those early, heady days together it was great…

Blood
I have heard it said too many times to recount, I’m just not sure that it is true…. that Blood is thicker than water. Of course in the literal sense the differences are obvious, blood is thicker than water. Blood- A dense, dark red, viscous fluid that is pulsed through our arteries, water, one of its components, an uncomplicated, translucent and mobile solution.

The Naughty Spot
Middle man is two. They call them terrible for a reason! I know he is just learning boundaries, but at the moment it feels like endless tantrums and a lot of time spent on the naughty spot. The biggest problem I have at the moment is staying angry at him when he is there.
