Hairy Men
I thought i was so right on. I put my career on hold for a few years so I could take care of the kids. Not that it was very hard. I had quite a stressful job. Loads of responsibilities, everything done at speed, working lunches etc. I thought yea, look after the kids, get them a good start in life, go to the park, drink coffee……
And then the little man says
“I don’t want to be hairy and a man when I’m a grown up, I’m going to be a lady”

I’ll Meat You in Paris, Mon Cheri

…I didn’t eat red meat much until I was about 23 years old. Then I moved to Paris and realised that if you want to stay alive (via the medium of eating) you need to embrace the world of red meat. And I mean, wholeheartedly with a kiss on either cheek. Monsieur, can I ‘ave my steak well done? Non, mademoiselle. Absolutement not, please leave my restaurant quietly, and don’t come back, you English cretin, au revoir.

Messy Play!
We have been bored out of our minds this week with all the horrible weather. Every time I promised Meg we could go outside and do some messy painting the rain would start up again.
So when she asked me again today if we could do something “fun” I had a brainwave. I was originally planning to make streamers with them but once Eli saw me ripping up the tissue paper he came over and started throwing it up in the air and so we scrapped the streamers and just threw some paper! Free Falling into 40
Anxiety and Age

A conversation was started on my Open University degree Facebook page yesterday about Anxiety. Someone was asking for advice on how to “fight it”. It struck a chord with me because although it’s taken a long time, one of the advantages of being in my 40′s is that I’ve had a lot of time to think about what makes me tick, and I know for a fact I suffer with anxiety and it’s impossible to “fight”.
I have no idea when I started being anxious. I know I was anxious around my mother….

Neighbours, Everybody Needs Good Neighbours
As the title of this post states. We all need good neighbours, and we could all learn to be a bit more understanding of those around us, not just our neighbours. When you hear noises, shouting, banging etc. don’t immediately jump to a conclusion, you could be making someone’s difficult and stressful life even more stressful and difficult than it already is.

My Darlings and Me
why? Why? Why?

If I had £1 for every time I hear the word ‘Why’ every day, I’d be sat on a private tropical island with a Pina Colada served by a buff butler!
Now’s my chance to get me own back with all the ‘whys’ I’d like to turn round and ask them.
Thank you to Jennifer at Jennifer’s Little World for tagging me in this funny meme!

Team Lloyd
Movements

Anyway last night B Lloyd was reading her books at bedtime and I thought oooh I think that’s Mini Lloyd. After saying good night to B Lloyd I went to crash out on the sofa and BOY! Did Mini Lloyd start moving around!
I laid on the sofa while Daddy Lloyd cooked dinner and couldn’t help but giggle I could feel movements all across my stomach, so I started to listen with my stethoscope and

Quick kitchen notice board (number 1!)

Inspired by a number of great ideas on Pinterest and frustrated by the piles of paperwork collecting on my kitchen surfaces, I have decided to try a couple of very quick and easy DIY projects this week to create some useful notice boards.
This first one is specifically for the fancy invites and pretty notes that collect around the place, the ones that I’m happy to show off. I often lose wedding invites and have to ring up my friends to get hold of the details. Well, not any more!

Jackanory:- Part Five

Good golly gosh, sorry it’s been so long since I last updated my Jackanory Story, so much has happened here that my fluffy paws haven’t touched the ground, but today is not the day to tell you.
Today is all abouts the Jackanory Story.
*finds a comfortable position and starts to remember*
I had just started to leave he house with my mummy and Meegan, learning to enjoy life outside in the big wide world.

London – How was it for you? Before and after kids…

We went to London over the half-term. The kids loved it, I loved it, and it was suitably knackering.
However, it did get me thinking about why I used to go into London. The reasons used to be very, very different:

Competitive Kids

I had a great idea this morning. My lovely wife is out all day with W and a mate at Thorpe Park. So, it’s my turn to pick up the “signs of spring” from school.
“The weather is beautiful so why not collect them by bike” I thought. “It’s a beautiful route across Surrey countryside from school to home – we could stop for a snack on the way home, roll peacefully down the hills, do a bit of nature, laugh and joke all the way home.”
Well that’s what I thought.

The amazing ‘bah, just put your feet up’ competition!

And relaaaaxxxxx…… regular readers will notice that I have turned into an utter stress monkey of late. And that being a stress monkey is no fun what-so-ruddy-ever and probably something that I should avoid. So, welcome to my lovely ‘bah, just put your feet up’ competition!

You make me smile Week 1

I have decided to start a new linky with the intention of improving my photography and helping me to appreciate the great things in my life. I will post it up every tuesday and you can join in anytime during the week. The idea is you post three photos of things that are making you smile this week, whether they are a lie in, a piece of delicious cake or your babies first steps. You can add as much or as little explanation as you like.

Notes from the Edge of Motherhood
What Your Nickname Says About You

The husband I made a pact to stop calling each other ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’ in an attempt to rekindle our pre-parent identity.
The first hurdle was actually remembering what we used to call each other before I was mainly in charge of the dishwasher. Somewhere in our past lurk names whispered passionately in the dark, murmured down phone lines at 3am, names that in the interests of privacy, I would NEVER share on a public forum such as this (Moneypenny and Batman). OMG HOW DID THAT GET IN THERE? I could swear I edited that bit out.

Hobbies?!
Why do certain men have this urge to take up precious and valuable time with pointlessness? As I have mentioned to P several times of late I consider hobbies a luxury that I don’t expect to have time for until I’m at least 65. There will be plenty of time for leisure activities when we’re retired and the kids have left home. I’ll join a choir, grow potatoes, make wonky pottery mugs with the best of them, but for now there are bums to be washed…
