The Crunch

“Cream cheese and cucumber?”

“Yes that’s fine” she answers “no no uum I won’t have cucumber”

I find this puzzling since cream cheese and cucumber has always been a winner.

“Why don’t you want cucumber?”

“Because when you’re at school and it’s time to eat the juffie turns this thingy round and it plays a tune on the music box and then you all have to be quiet.”
(Juffie is a female teacher)

Listening to this I suddenly feel a lot more awake and attentive.

“Ooh” I say “so you mean cucumber is too crunchy and it makes a noise?!”

Letters for Mum

Laundry – why?

Darling Mum,

Why did you never warn me about laundry? Why did you never explain the ‘end of the laundry basket’ conundrum?

My Darlings and Me

I’m a football widow

Well the UEFA European Cup 2012 has started. Hubby is a big football fan and I can’t stand it, which means I’ll be a football widow for the next 3 weeks. I’ll have to suffer two matches a day… and he has to watch every single one.

Thank goodness hubby works shifts and next week he’s on lates, so I’ll have 4 football free days.

And thank goodness I’ve got my new Kindle. I think I’ll be doing lots of reading over the next 21 days. I downloaded three new books last night so I’m well prepared!

Team Lloyd

Sixteen week midwife check

B Lloyd piped up and asked where the screen was for her to see what was happening, so I left Daddy Lloyd to explain again that we were only listening whilst I got very nervous while the probe was searching….

Then there it was, a very steady heartbeat. B Lloyd rushed over to my side and her eyes lit up in delight whilst

Pregnancy diary: week 19 – feet up & animal instincts

This week started with a 4-day weekend, and it’s also been half-term. My parents-in-law came for the long weekend, and my mum-in-law (who is a teacher) has been here with us for the rest of the week. This means that I’ve not had to do any house work, shopping or general chores because they did them, and they have been a big help in entertaining Andrew. So I’ve had more opportunities just to put my feet up and relax compared to a normal week. We also went on a couple of animally outings….

Mummy’s Little Stars

Can we catch the clouds mummy?

My son said something wonderful last week.

He thought that the man cutting down the tree in our garden would get to the top by:

Throwing a rope into the sky and catching a cloud so he can pull himself up.
What a beautiful idea.

3 Children and It

Something else I have become…. #R2BC

This post is under the guise of a R2BC post, an idea which was created by Michelle at mummy from the heart. The aim, if you’re not already familiar, is that anything goes as long as it’s of a cheerful/thankful nature. At this point I will flag up a warning…..this post features camping….a LOT! Yes, not only have I become an animal lover as mentioned in a previous post, I have also inadvertently become….a camper!

BC (before children) I would have sneered at anyone who mentioned their intention to spend a weekend camping in Britain.

Syria: Trying to do something other than thinking

For those that follow what happens in the world of blogging, last Friday was declared a day of protest against the killings in Syria, promted by the above article from The Times. I didn’t join in. I had nothing against it but I had a house full of housework to do, lunch round a friend’s and then a small child to entertain until bedtime. And then, it being Friday, my main plan was to flop on the sofa. If I’m honest, I also thought ‘but I want to write about lovely crafty things!’

The Hairy Chronicles Part 2…Down Below.

Last week I blogged about my hairy chin, so you would have thought I couldn’t go any lower in my admissions on this blog, especially as I only had one comrade come forward to stand in my hairy chin group. However, one of the advantages to being anonymous is that I should be able to tackle to big issues facing a woman of a certain age, such as the hairy muff/punani/lady bits/Mary/down below area.

Celebrating the Jubilee

Whether you are a royalist or not, you can’t deny that the Jubilee is bringing the country together in a unique way. I mean when else are street parties not only accceptable but commonplace? Every commercial company seems to have cottoned on and it is not only your biscuit tins that are patriotic – suddenly everything from smoothies to Marmite (ma’mite) is covered in red, white and blue.

Falling off the wagon

Right now I am feeling like a bit of a failure.

I have failed.

I have fallen off the wagon.

Not so much in the alcohol drinking sense. I don’t have a problem with alcoholism.

However it is true that while I am writing this I am drinking a glass of Wolfblass Red Label Semillion Sauvignon Blanc….
