It’s been a roasting hot week and I for one have enjoyed bundling the kiddies out into the garden after months of mainly being indoors. But with the lovely weather comes the lure of the great outdoors. Be it taking to the beach or sunning yourself in the garden, have you noticed a change to your blogging patterns in the past week? Have you noticed any changes in the blogging community?
I started blogging at the end of June last year and I must say that the month of July seemed rather desolate (as did December as Christmas rolled near) in blogland. Sure people still blogged, but the essential and fun family times were put first for many people. So that’s just a little ‘heads up’ that if come late June/July it suddenly feels that maybe you aren’t getting so many visits to your blog don’t stress – it’s just the way things go at this tie of year for many!
Tip of the week: Optimizing your sidebar. Here’s a link to an older post from Love New Blogs that is still relevant. It shows that sometimes it’s good to have a rummage in your sidebar to make sure you have the right bits in the best places…so here you go – ‘Arranging your sidebar wisely‘.
And so on to this weeks Weekly Showcase!

Don’t Cook Your Dog
Don’t Cook Your Dog sounds terrible doesn’t it?
But people are still leaving dogs in boiling hot cars!
We have just had three very hot days, with more to come over the weekend.

Potty Mouth
I am obsessed with poo. And pee. And everything bottom-related really. Yes, we’re potty training. Well, that’s the idea anyway. Mostly, it’s just me mopping up puddles and maintaining a falsely cheery face while scooping up crap. Quite simply, it’s hell…

The Hairy Chronicles – Part 1…NOT BY THE HAIR OF YOUR CHINNY CHIN CHIN

I have a memory of my mother. She is sitting on the back step with a hand-held mirror and a pair of tweezers and is plucking hairs from her chin. As far as I was aware, my mother didn’t have a hairy chin. That was probably partly to do with the whole sitting on the step with tweezers, partly to do with the fact she was blonde and therefore it wasn’t that noticeable and partly to do with the fact I was a teenager and barely actually looked at her for any length of time of time.

How does your garden grow…

Quite tongue in cheek, but quite desperate too.
My garden seriously needs weeding, but I’d rather catch up on some much needed sleep….. cue *deep, heavy, pained, sigh*

When tongue-tie is more than being stuck for words
We found out, the hard way, after nearly 10 weeks of Andrew struggling to gain weight as a newborn, that Andrew was born with a tongue-tie. ‘What’s that?’, you might say, or ‘I’ve heard of it – doesn’t it just mean when you’re put on the spot and can’t come up with the words to say?’ Personally I used to associate the term ‘tongue-tied’ with the (slightly geeky and cult) comedy series Red Dwarf. Basically it means a tongue which is anchored to the floor of the mouth by a piece of skin called a frenulum.

Getting All Jubilee-y
Only a week to go until our Street Party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and we’re getting:
1.Very busy
2.Very excited
3.Very red, white and blue
Our street is going to be awash with bunting and decor, and so today we started our onslaught of Jubilee related crafts that we have planned to snazz up our own house.

The Blog Baby

My blog is 2 months old today.
It is just starting to emit the occasional delightful giggle.
It might have noticed it has hands.
It can certainly see a little clearer.
But basically it still can’t do an awful lot.

Team Lloyd
Mini Lloyd Dancing

Last week we were finally able to make it public knowledge that I am pregnant! It has been such a relief to be able to start talking about it as I had become a bit of a hermit. Avoiding friends, avoiding social gatherings and avoiding doing anything that meant I was spending too long away from a bathroom.
It was discussed by the hospital midwives while I was laying happily watching the IV fluids drip into me and wondering how I could take this stuff home with me so I never had to look at a drink ever again

Never say ‘never’

It has dawned on me recently, that quite by chance I have become something I never set out to be. We all have plans and goals for our lives and these are usually based around the way we have been brought up, the people who have come across our path or just simply the hopes and dreams that God instills in us at birth….
So what is it I have become?
